Carmen Electra Biography

Carmen Electra was born Tara Leigh Patrick in Sharonville, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati, on April 20, 1972. She spent her early years in Sharonville and White Oak, preparing for a career in show business, taking dance classes while only five years old. With dreams of Hollywood, Carmen spent her high school years studying music and dance at the School of Creative and Performing Arts, in Cincinnati.

After graduating from high school in 1990, Carmen moved to California where she began working with a local rap group. In a short time, she was noticed by a talent scout, who got her an audition for Prince. At this time, Prince was forming an all girl rap group for his recording company, Paisley Park Records and Tara Leigh Patrick became his new lead singer, Carmen Electra. In 1992, she released her only album for Prince's company which was not well received by the listening public.

Electra began working in television in 1995 and was featured in Playboy magazine in May of 1996. With the increased exposure ;), Carmen began getting guest spots and even some regular roles on MTV's Singled Out, and several times as a guest star on Howard Stern. In 1997, Carmen replaced Pam Anderson on Baywatch, and began her film career, with roles in such notable films as "Good Burger", "The Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human", and later, "Scary Movie" and "Scary Movie 4". She continues to find work in the movie industry and has appeared in over thirty films. Her most recent movie appearance is as Eugene Levy's trophy wife in Cheaper by the Dozen 2. During this time Carmen continued to work in a variety of television programs, both as a guest and serving as host. She became known more for her body than for her body of work and appeared in a series of magazine covers and non-nude photo shoots for Maxim, Stuff and FHM.

Given her early work in Playboy and her reputation as a sex symbol, Electra has been very reluctant to appear nude on screen. She has only done one genuine nude scene in a movie, early in her career in The Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human.

In 1998, Carmen married basketball star Dennis Rodman in a much publicized ceremony in the "Chapel of the Flowers" in Las Vegas, Nevada. This marraige lasted only five months and the couple seperated later in 1999.

Electra sponsors the "Carmen Electra Prepaid MasterCard", which displays her picture as part of the design and has her own series of low impact workout CDs which combine striptease and aerobic dancing.
