Yamila Diaz

Yamila Diaz-Rahi was born March 9th, 1978 in Argentina from Spanish and Lebanese descents. Her father is an established doctor while her mother manages a community for the elders. She grew up with equally beautiful sisters, Yael and Maria. With her exotic beauty and with those expressive eyes, Yamila Diaz-Rahi, easily became one of Sports Illustrated’s most sought after models. Interestingly, Yamila did not consider becoming a model in her early years. While in college in Buenos Aires, she took up Economics. It was there where an agent saw her during the late 90’s and offered her with what would become a flourishing modelling career in Milan, Italy.

It took sometime for her to break through the modelling scene. She started with posing for department store catalogues before earning her biggest break. Yamila Diaz – Rahi first appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated (the annual edition) in 1999. In 2002, she again made it to the cover for their Swimsuit Edition and has been regularly seen in its pages since. Aside from her gigs for this magazine, she is also a Covergirl cosmetics spokesmodel and carries the distinction of being the first Latina to become one. She has also appeared on several catalogues and issues of Victoria’s Secrets, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Marie Claire, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle. She has made various ads for Ungaro, Replay Jeans and Bio-Etyc, an Italian cosmetics line.

Yamila Diaz – Rahi also ventured into acting by appearing in the film Il Pesce Innamorato (Italian for “Love of the Fishes”).

In 1999, she was selected by the Spanish Edition of People’s Magazine’s “25 Most Beautiful People”.

Apart from these achievements, this South American native is fluent in Italian and English and dwells into literature and South American politics.

She currently resides in Manhattan.
